Brothers in Christ Productions founder, Micah Versemann has announced the filming for the second installment in the Crave Trilogy, Stand Firm, is complete and a DVD release will be coming in early 2020, with a digital release to follow.
“The way we are doing this trilogy is a little different than what people normally think of when they hear trilogy,” Versemann told CM. “We're calling it a trilogy for two reasons, first there is a larger story being told throughout the trilogy, but it’s not as evident right away, and unlike most films, the story doesn't completely center around the main character of Olivia from the first film.”
Versemann conveyed that he “can't say much more on that right now because of spoilers.”
What is known about the second film's story is that it picks up with Olivia and her roommate, Claire, six months after the first tale. During that time, Claire has become a Christian. She returns home from college for the first time, where she learns some long-kept family secrets.
Stand Firm continues the original Crave saga, which was filmed in August, 2017, and premiered in June, 2018. According to Versemann, each film looks at a different aspect of the Word of God. The first entry focused on the importance of being rooted in the Word of God, while Stand Firm is about standing on the Word of God through persecution.
Some of the cast make their return in the series with several new actors introducing new characters. Rejoining the team is Elaina Hagstrom as Olivia and Craig Knutson as Pastor Kurt. The original actress who played character Claire Dawson is absent due to “unforeseen circumstances,” Versemann said, and that role is now played by Rebecca Peterson. Also making their Crave debut are Joshua Cody as Brian Harrison, Ted Rich as Pastor Jansen and Zachary Meiser as Alan Dawson.
“We're still working on deals for where people can watch it digitally,” Versemann said. “Some of part three has been shot, with us tentatively planning to finish shooting in spring of 2020, as long as we can secure the remaining production budget.”
The third film in the trilogy will be about using the Word of God to confront false doctrine. A portion of part three has been shot, with a goal to finish photography in the spring of 2020, “As long as we can secure the remaining production budget,” Versemann noted.
