SPOTLIGHT ON PERSONALITIES IN FAITH-BASED ENTERTAINMENT TODAY
▶ BY KEVIN COLLIER
The idea for creating and launching a Christian TV series that features faith-based films, creators and talents, began the end of September 2019. On October 1 we released a prototype "pilot" episode of a proposed show, Keeping Up with the Christians, hosted by my wife Kristen Collier. It was quickly decided to introduce it as a series, and 5 days later, the first episode was released. By the end of 2019, we had produced 13 episodes of the program, two of which were extended holiday specials. Our many guests have blessed us and our viewers with their incredible talent and bold witnessing for Christ.
At the end of 2019 we announced that we would be launching a streaming channel on Roku TV and began to concentrate on the creation of several original content series for the network that can serve the faith-based film genre. As a result, we have launched several other programs to peak awareness in a mission to make Christian entertainment the "new mainstream."
I have to thank my wife for hosting our main program, Keeping Up with the Christians, as it was not her idea nor did she have any desire to be on camera or a "talk show host." I asked her to do it, and she agreed. What unfolded has been a rewarding experience for us spiritually, and creatively, as we can see the direction of faith-based entertainment changing before our eyes, headed into more creative and pioneering realms. The program has earned a popular following featuring stellar guests like Cameron Arnett, Benjamin Dane, Todd Terry, Josh Murray and Jerry Della Salla.
Slowly fading are the formula "Christian" ventures and "come to Jesus" moment spectacles. We welcome that. And talented Christian producers who didn't know each other are now connecting. That's why Creative Motion "Network" is a great name for our platform. We, as a collective of creative Christians, are on the move and networking for a greater works to glorify God.
Kristen, a Concordia University graduate and church secretary, excelled in her theology courses and provides a biblical world-view for the program. She's also got a quick sense of humor to contrast her strong faith. The high point of every episode is her praying for our quests. Amen.
I want to thank everyone who has been so kind to my precious wife! She's the joy of my life, and my prayers are for her to bring you joy, too. The mission of our original programming is to advance and promote faith-based cinema projects, from short films to feature-length, and set a new standard where "Christian" media becomes the new mainstream. Filmmakers, you are not alone, and together, we move closer to victory in Christ every day. In Jesus' Name. Amen!

MIDNIGHT: THE KITTY CO-HOST▶ BY KEVIN COLLIER
Midnight is our pet cat. We adopted her from The Noah Project in December 2008 when she was just 6-months-old. We were warned when we welcomed her into our family that "she is a talker." She has something to say about everything - the challenge is trying to figure that out. When we launched Keeping Up with the Christians, it was decided that it would be funny to feature Midnight as a "Kitty Co-Host," providing some amusement to the show. What we didn't expect is Midnight would like doing the show. Even in down time, if we go into the "second bedroom" used as the set for the show she races in there and jumps into the chair or onto the table thinking we are going to shoot a program. It's actually funny. So now, we couldn't exclude her even if we tried. Midnight will turn age 12 in July 2020, and it doesn't look like she's slowing down or entertaining thoughts of retiring from her TV show gig anytime soon. |
