LOVE  OF  A  FISH   Continued

It was there in the character's own personal struggles, within their own lives, as well, when they’re amongst others. AND yet patience, and as Paola's character mentions, a greater LOVE for Joey than ever before, HAS to be applied to help recover the man she once knew.”
Della Salla, who trained with renowned acting coach Stella Adler and who has a Master’s in Apologetics, said, “These are all great signs of a loving partnership, one based on sacrifice and perseverance. And I love that the two couples are going after the same thing in their coping, but are completely opposite in their approach. One couple is clearly external with it, while the other more central couple (Josh and Gretchen), are far more introverted and suppressive. It's a great sign as to who needs more help, and who's a little ahead of the game.”
Josh Murray, who plays the suicidal soldier talked down from his deadly pursuit by Della Salla’s character, said, “When people are deeply wounded, they build walls around their terrified heart, until it feels safe to just be. Love is looking past those prickly defenses to the hurting Soul inside.”
All proceeds go to The Baltimore Station, which helps homeless vets turn their lives around. Writer/producer, Mike Garvey, told CM, “We spoke with, and virtually experienced firsthand, the very real issues our servicemen face once back in the states. That is when this journey became personal. We met these men that were homeless, have been abandoned by their wives, families, and have broken lives, and they connected with our story and film. It was heart-warming to see the camaraderie these men had at the Baltimore Station as that same
camaraderie is expressed in our script, surprisingly to us, the writers.”
“It was like a shot in the arm,” Garvey said, “and we all knew then that this film had a much larger purpose and it was important for us to get this story out there to facilitate change. We were driven to make this movie, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Strong and to illuminate this issue once and for all. These issues (PTSD, soldier suicide, depression, etc.) have been going on for too long in the dark; men do not usually discuss their issues and instead man up and deal with it. Therefore, this is not widely known, and we all need to step up and take care of the servicemen that have taken care of us. Be the Miracle!”
  But why a fish?
Della Salla told CM, “And the fact that a Fish named Fred, a creature seemingly free and without care, is being controlled in this metaphor for such healing by constantly moving. Fluid and ethereal. Fred seems to be that metaphor that we can all live by - Keep Moving. Through the waters of life. Because fish have to keep swimming in order to breathe. I found that aspect in this film to be the most compelling and most beautiful.”
