Great Light Studios’ Jordan Hatfield has announced the feature-length docudrama Metamorphosis will premiere on November 17, 2019 and be free to view, initially, via the Great Light Studios channel platforms YouTube and Vimeo. The production company is operated by husband and wife team, Jordan and Faith Hatfield.
“Our goal is not to make money off the film,” Jordan Hatfield told CM. “For that reason we are releasing it for free.”
The film focuses on a true tale involving Jon Smith and Bill Troester, both of whom formerly lived an existence of violence, drug addiction, and crime, resulting in jail and imprisonment. Metamorphosis reveals how God reached down and saved them out of a world of darkness and brought them into light.

Hatfield stated a later target goal is inclusion on Amazon and also production of a DVD, with bonus, behind-the-scenes, content that will be available through their website.

Production on Metamorphosis began in January of 2018, capturing a lengthy interview of Bill Troester, where he shared his story.

“The film also consists of ‘cinematic’ scenes which re-enact moments from Bill's life,” Hatfield explained. “Much of the film consists of scenes from Bill's childhood/early teen years. I used a young actor named Anthony Huls to portray Bill in his early teens.”

The project, written and directed by Jordan Hatfield, features Jonathan Brickley, Anthony Huls, Christopher Grimwood, Seth Hatfield, Timothy Pearson, Chris McGathy and others.

Hatfield explained that he first met Bill Troester about three years ago “at a house church that I was a part of.”
“As I learned about his dark past and the powerful way God had changed his life, I felt compelled to tell that story through film,” the filmmaker said. “I really wanted to showcase the ability of the gospel to save and transform ‘the worst of the worst’ people.”

Troester shared his tumultuous, true-life tale.

“He was convinced that he was beyond hope and that there was no chance of salvation for him,” Hatfield conveyed. “Basically, he felt like he had sinned too much and gone too far for God to be able to save him. He was convinced that he was ‘doomed’ to hell, but God saved him. When he simply cried out to God for help, Bill discovered that Jesus was kind enough and good enough to save even him, the ‘worst of the worst.’”

That message resonated with Hatfield, who wanted to pass it forward.

“I felt like it was a powerful message that would resonate with many others who are stuck in a dark place in their lives like Bill was, feeling that they are beyond hope and help from God,” he said. “So in short, I think the primary inspiration behind Metamorphosis is this theme, that no one can sin too much to disqualify themselves from salvation. Jesus is able to fully save anyone who will simply call on his name in faith and repentance.”

Hatfield’s desire is that people who view the docudrama come away with a different perspective of Christ.

“My hope is that people will see Jesus in new ways,” Hatfield said. “That they will more clearly and fully see how good he is, how loving he is, how faithful he is, and that he is able to help them no matter how dark their situation is. He is able to bring light into their situation. And so my desire is that this film inspires hope for the hopeless.”

Watch for Metamorphosis online November 17, as it will touch you and reveal the incredible love and forgiveness Jesus offers us all.
