COMIX35, a Christian comics ministry based on EXodus 35:30-35, has announced that President Nate Butler will be retiring from the organization at the end of this year. Butler’s last day on the job will be in December.
A statement from the ministry conveyed the COMIX35 co-founder “will be moving on to whatever The Heavenly Father has planned for him next.”
Prior to co-founding COMIX35, Butler put in two decades as a professional cartoonist, commercial artist, and writer/illustrator of comics. He went into full-time ministry in 1999.
Butler’s former company, The Nate Butler Studio, Inc., produced artwork for clients such as Jim Henson Productions, Weekly Reader, Children’s Television Workshop, DC Comics, and King Features Syndicate, as well as providing scripts for Modern Publishing, Archie Comics, and Marvel Comics.
COMIX35 stated Butler will be passing on the Christian Comics Ministry baton to the talented José Carlos Gutiérrez, “as well as others, Lord willing.” COMIX35 has been offering international consultations, coaching, and classes on the production and effective use of comics-style literature since 1996.
