Burning Bush Productions founder and CEO, Matt Long, has announced his faith-based, zombie apocalypse, motion picture, The Red Resurrection, will be released on DVD and digital download, at major retailers and platforms November 12th, 2019.
The Red Resurrection, the first movie produced by Burning Bush, began production in 2015. The completed film enjoyed a limited release in November of 2017. The following year it went on to win more than 20 awards in film festivals worldwide. The film’s success and fast-forward trajectory has been rewarding for Long, a 15-year Kentucky filmmaker.
“After our festival run, we began talking with the distribution company Nandar Pictures, and eventually reached a national distribution agreement,” Long told CM. “We are honored to partner with Nandar Pictures and are incredibly thankful for everyone who helped make this film what it is!”
The film’s story reveals a world ravaged by a viral infection that turns its victims into cannibalistic monsters. Abby awakens afraid and alone to find herself "Resurrected" from the living death brought on by this new Black Plague.
Dave and Jon, the two travelers who cured her of this deadly disease the night before, begin to lead Abby on a journey through the pieces of her shattered life, to overcome her memories as a mindless flesh-eater, as well as to their home, Safe Haven.
With the help of those who cured her, Abby must learn to navigate, not only through the depths of her fractured psyche, but through a world full of monsters, some much worse than the plague could ever create.
“At this point I’m sure your thinking, faith and zombies, really?” Matt Long told CM. “But, there’s a message in the madness. This isn’t your average, faith-based film or zombie movie. It’s an allegory about a cure to bring the living dead back to life.”
Long pointed to Colossians 2:13 to describe the directive of The Red Resurrection.
“You were DEAD because of your sins... but, God made you ALIVE with Christ when He forgave all your sins,” Long shared. “I wanted to make a film that would draw an audience of unbelievers, show them what it really means to be made alive in Christ and shine a light in a very dark place.”
Actors playing the primary protagonists are Kirstie Piper as Abby Royal, Jacob Reinhard as Dave Harper, Daniel Cutteridge as Jon Bowman, with Rick Boling as Paulie Goodman, and Megan Reinhard as Michaela Bowman, in supporting roles.
The primary antagonists were played by Michael Marks as Schneider, and Jerry Pyle as Brother Eli Marx, with Matt Long as Lincoln Marx, in a supporting role.
The Red Resurrection DVD currently can be pre-ordered on Amazon. It will also be available online through Walmart, Best Buy, Barnes & Noble and others to be announced.
