     Director
Christopher Shawn Shaw told CM Friday, September, 6, that the Something Smells Funny team shot a massive amount of footage for the pilot episodes in production, in Redlands, CA, August 27-28.
“We shot approximately 12 Terabytes of footage and audio files,” CSS (as he’s lovingly known in the industry) told CM. “We needed all the prayers we could get...and still do!”
The team recorded enough footage for “four or five healthy cooking shows” with Executive Producer Dr. Watson and his staff of medical professionals. Something Smells Funny creator and host, Scott Wood, provided comic relief. They also shot enough footage for eight comedy sketches for the good doctor’s patients. Along with being an “out-of-the box content creator” and executive producer, Dr. Watson is also the medical director of Mission Pediatrics.

“We are so excited to partner with super funny comedian Scott Wood, and Director Christopher Shawn Shaw, by delivering a message about healthy home cooking,” Dr. Watson told CM. “Our patients are eagerly awaiting the next great cooking show.”
“It's never too late to start feeling great,” Wood told CM. “Here at SSF we believe healthy cooking can be fun and funny. We're eating healthy and busting a gut...on Something Smells Funny!”
Wood (aka Mr. Punchline), headlines Saturday, September 7 with Kerri Pomarolli, at The Upper Room Christian Coffee House, in Mission Viejo, CA, for A Night of Comedy. Along with being a prolific Tonight Show alum, Pomarolli is also a best-selling author with two new books out November 5. (See CM news brief).

  Dr. Watson told CM,
“Our comedian lineup comes from a diverse set of backgrounds, and mesh well with Scott’s interactive style, to bring a really delightful show that we hope everyone will enjoy.”
Something Smells Funny guest comic chef, Jimmy Brogan, a former long-time Executive Producer of The Tonight Show, told CM, “It was great fun. Not only did my 5 Minute Bachelor Hummus smell funny, it tasted funny.”
Mark Christopher Lawrence (Terminator 2: Judgment Day) told CM, “Working on this project with Scott Wood was a lot of fun. The crew was top notch and really moved the day along. Scott was funny, as usual, and I was there to be eye candy.”
The ukulele playing guest chef Victoria Jackson had a great time cooking her Popeye Spinach Salad. (Pun intended. Yes, we realize this is a cold salad.)

“She loved it,” CSS said of the SNL alum, regarding the Something Smells Funny shoot.
Along with the material shot for Dr. Watson’s medical mission, enough raw footage was obtained to make the upcoming first four episodes of the Something Smells Funny show itself. This includes the material shot with the various guest comic chefs. This footage now goes into the editing suite.
Hard-working director CSS said they have a new editing laptop arriving next week, that he’ll need to set up “then ingest footage onto (which can take A LOT of time).” He’ll then begin the arduous, months-long, editing process, and “submit for notes...change accordingly, etc.”
CSS added that teasers and a sizzle reel will be the first to drop. The goal “for teasers and sizzle is the end of the month,” both director, CSS, and host Wood, said. They both also asked that CM readers continue to keep this project in prayer. Seems to be a recipe for success every time!
“Please continue to PRAY that--through the LORD--I edit stellarly and include the right hilarity, etc.!!”
Kudos to Wood, CSS, and the entire team of overachieving Christian professionals. CM is very excited to see where this program goes.
